Welcome

Welcoming in the New Year for the 69th time.
Our old friend, James Akenson, has made me even more aware of the power of music to take us back. I’m glad I’m not young now and looking forward to a time when the golden oldies will be rap songs by 50 (pronounced “Fitty”) Cent.
It is amazing to me how many songs like “Be True to Your School” resound with me. When Billy Joel sings about Brenda and Eddie, the popular steadies and the King and the Queen of the Prom, I just substitute more familiar names from my past. No need to even mention “Kathy’s Clown”.
Gordon Lightfoot sings, “It’s so nice to meet an old friend and pass the time of day and talk about our hometown, a million miles away. Is the ice still on the river? Are the old folks still the same? And by the way did she mention my name?”
I graduated from Southwest High but I never left. Indian forever too.
The 50th Reunion was so much fun that I am still basking in the after glow and reflecting on our incredible class. I was particularly proud of the support shown for Jim Rotsch during the December funeral for his mother. It took a long row in the church to hold all of the class members and spouses.
I have been asked how we keep the spirit of the reunion alive. I think the answer lies in our strengths.
Stay healthy.
Keep Paul Gansky informed of changes in your directory information so that we know where to reach you with information. Make use of the directories that he provides to see how many classmates live along the route to your vacation destination or live in the cities that you will be visiting.
Check the website regularly in case I actually do get motivated to write a new homepage or post more pictures.
I am confident that someone or ones will step up and put together a birthday party for all of us in 2013 when we turn 70. We had one for age 50 and age 60 and found that they make a nice transition between reunions. It is not a daunting undertaking.
